| Auditions for Gilbert and Sullivan’s RUDDIGORE or, The Witch’s Curse At the Pumphouse Theatre, April 17 - May 2, 2015 Producer- Tim Elliott Director- Dale Hirlehey Musical Director- Ian Robertson Choreographer- Amy Tollefson Stage Manager- Jody Low Assistant Stage Manager- Eilidh Long When a witch curses the first Baronet of Ruddigore that he and any future Baronet of Ruddigore must commit a crime everyday of their life, or else perishes in inconceivable agony, their lineage is doomed for 20 plus generations which leads us to merely the beginning of our tale! A story full of love, the supernatural and outrageous situations and songs by the original masters of the musical comedy; Gilbert and Sullivan! Expect a frightening curse, ghosts coming to life, and a sudden surprise conclusion, all told with clever songs and dances. Be ready for the Ruddy Gore! Cast Auditions Open auditions for all roles will take place: Wednesday December 10th (7:00 to 9:30pm) Thursday December 11th (7:00 to 9:30pm) Sunday December 14th (11:00am to 4:00pm) Callbacks will take place on Sunday December 14th from 7:00 to 10:00pm at the Morpheus Rehearsal Centre (lower level of the Parkdale Community Centre) 3512 – 5 Avenue NW Audition Requirements: *A cold read from the show *A prepared song in any style that best shows off your voice. No matter what style of music you choose to sing bring your best character performance to your audition song! (An accompanist will be available, but music must be in his hands by December 3rd. CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS: SIR RUTHVEN MURGATROYD – Male baritone. Baron of Ruddigore in disguise as Robin Oakapple to avoid his responsibilities as Baron, in love with Rose, but far too shy to tell her. RICHARD DAUNTLESS – Male tenor. A sailor and foster brother to Ruthven Murgatroyd. SIR DESPARD MURGATROYD – Male baritone. Current Baron of Ruddigore and holder of the curse. SIR RODERIC MURGATROYD – Male baritone. Twenty-First Baronet of Ruddigore. OLD ADAM GOODHEART – Male bass. Valet to Ruthven Murgatroyd, and keeper of his secret. ROSE MAYBUD – Female soprano. Sweet young village maiden in love with Robin Oakapple, but far too polite to tell him. MAD MARGARET – Female mezzo. A villager driven mad by the actions of the evil baron, Despard Murgatroyd. DAME HANNAH – Female mezzo. Rose’s Aunt. ZORAH – Female soprano. Head bridesmaid. RUTH – Female speaking. One of the bridesmaids. A large ensemble that includes the professional Bridesmaids, the Ancestors of Ruddigore, Townspeople…and more. Rehearsals will take place from January 21 - April 16 on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday Evenings. Morpheus Theatre requires that auditioners come prepared to commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule. | |
