The Making of Warriors
Wednesday March 28th, 2012 - Saturday March 31st, 2012
Information:
THE MAKING OF WARRIORS is a powerful story of moral courage. It blends
dramatized storytelling techniques with objective reporting and
personal recollection. This highly theatrical telling will ask
audiences to consider their own connection to the lives of historical
figures Sarah Grimke and Anna Mae Pictou Aquash. Grimke, the
abolitionist daughter of a South Carolina judge and slave owner, was a
forerunner of the women's rights movement. Aquash was an activist in
Native Rights Movements and was feared by both the male leaders of her
own movement and the FBI. Written by one of Canada's most prominent
playwrights, THE MAKING OF WARRIORS is the spring production of
theatre@rocky's 2-year theatre arts diploma program. It is being
presented in conjunction with the Sharon Pollock Celebration 2012
hosted by the University of Calgary.
