Friday Feb. 24th, 2012 A Faith & Film Experience with Jeffrey Overstreet @ The Lantern Church 7:30 pm $15/adults & $10/students/seniors Through a Screen Darkly: A Memoir of Gradual Bedazzlement and Dangerous Moviegoing Novelist and award-winning film reviewer Jeffrey Overstreet shares notes from a lifetime of international moviegoing, a circuitous tour that illuminates ways in which art — however simple, dark, or strange — can give us new perspectives and transforming encounters with beauty and truth. About Jeffrey Overstreet Jeffrey began publishing articles on art and faith at LookingCloser.org in 1996. From 2001-2009 he wrote weekly film columns and reviews for Christianity Today. During that time, he helped establish ArtsandFaith.com, which is now an Image community online, and contributed articles to Paste, Books and Culture, The Curator, Relevant, and Image. He is the author of a "travelogue of dangerous moviegoing" called Through a Screen Darkly, as well as four fantasy novels – Auralia’s Colors, Cyndere’s Midnight, and Raven's Ladder, and the upcoming The Ale Boy’s Feast. Jeffrey lives in Seattle, where he is the contributing editor for Seattle Pacific University's Response magazine. | |
