Male Actors especially needed!

Community Theatre company is looking for leads and ensemble for two upcoming productions, Jekyll and Hyde (going up around Halloween), and Oliver! (going up in early December)

Roles available:

Jekyll and Hyde


Dr. Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde. (Twins or brothers are welcome and encouraged to audition) Baritone/Tenor

Emma Carew - Jekyll's fiancee. Soprano

John Utterson - Jekyll's lawyer and friend. Baritone/Tenor

Sir Danvers Carew - Emma's father and Chairman of the Board of Governors. Baritone

Simon Stride - The secretary of the Board of Governors and Jekyll's rival for Emma's affections. Baritone

Lord Savage - A member of the Board of Governors. Tenor

Bishop of Basingstoke - A hypocritical, sadistic, sexually driven man of the cloth and a member of the Board of Governors. Baritone/Tenor

Lady Beaconsfield - The only female member of the Board of Governors. Mezzo-Soprano

The Rt. Hon. Sir Archibald Proops - A member of the Board of Governors. Baritone

General Lord Glossop - A pompous retired army man and a member of the Board of Governors. Baritone/Bass

Spider - A pimp and proprietor of "The Red Rat". Baritone

Poole - Jekyll's loyal manservant.
Ensemble - All vocal ranges, ages 13+, all styles


Oliver!
(every character will be double cast, but you are guaranteed atleast 3 shows as lead upon receiving the role)


Oliver Twist, the protagonist of the story. He is a lonely orphan boy born in the workhouse. Singing role, boy 8-13

Fagin, a conniving career criminal, takes in homeless boys and teaches them to pick pockets for him. Baritone

Nancy, Bill Sikes's lover. She takes a liking to Oliver and treats him like her own child, but is eventually murdered for the steps she takes in behalf of him. Alto

Mr. Brownlow, Oliver's grandfather, a kind man of wealth and breeding.
Bill Sikes, Nancy's brutal and abusive lover, a burglar and her eventual murderer. Baritone

Mr. Bumble, the pompous beadle of the workhouse in which Oliver was born. Baritone

The Artful Dodger, the cleverest of Fagin's pickpockets, he introduces Fagin to Oliver. Singing role, boy 10-15

Mr. and Mrs. Sowerberry, the insensitive couple who take in Oliver and use him in their funeral business. Singing roles

Mrs. Corney, the matron of the workhouse where Oliver was born, later marries Mr. Bumble. Soprano

Charlotte Sowerberry, the rude but also flirtatious daughter of the Sowerberrys.

Noah Claypole, The Sowerberrys' apprentice, he bullies Oliver about his mother and enjoys a flirty relationship with Charlotte.
Bet, Nancy's friend, one of Fagin's former pickpockets. Mezzo-Soprano

Charley Bates, one of Fagin's pickpockets. He is Dodger's sidekick. Singing role for a child

Mrs. Bedwin, house-servant to Mr. Brownlow and caretaker of Oliver. Soprano
Ensemble - All ages 5 and up, all ranges


WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR MUSICIANS TO ACCOMPANY BOTH SHOWS - ALL INSTRUMENTS

Informal auditions are May 30th and 31st in the Community Room at Eau Claire Market (The old IMAX lobby downstairs), 6-10 o'clock pm. Please bring 2 contrasting songs, preferably from a musical, with a backing/instrumental/karaoke track on a CD or MP3 player.

[Successfully completing General auditions guarantees participation in both shows- strongly recommended though not obligatory- for all members over 18. Jekyll and Hyde is not suitable for children under the age of 13 and parental consent is required for all minors, for all productions]
