| Morpheus Theatre is pleased to announce Auditions for Neil Simon's The Odd Couple Directed by Carl Bishop It has inspired films, television shows and cartoons. The playwright himself adapted the script and produced a female version. This season Morpheus Theatre is going back to the original to visit mismatched roomies, Oscar and Felix, in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. When Felix finds himself facing a divorce, he moves in with Oscar. The two are friends, but they are also oil and water: Oscar is laid back and sloppy, Felix is high-strung and a neat freak - not the best combination for domestic harmony, but it's definitely an ideal recipe for laughter. Join us this fall, as we open our 2011/2012 season with this hilarious duo, this story about friends, life, love and the twists and turns of it all. Open auditions for all roles will take place: Sunday May 29th (12:00 to 4:00pm) Tuesday May 31st (7:00 to 9:30pm) and Thursday June 2nd (7:00 to 9:30pm) Callbacks will be Saturday June 4th, if necessary Auditions and rehearsals will take place at the NEW Morpheus Rehearsal Centre 3512 - 5th Avenue NW (Lower Level - Parkdale Community Centre) Audition Requirements: * Actors will need a two minute comedic monologue and should be prepared to workshop it. * There will also be a cold read. * Please bring your acting resume and headshot to the audition ROLES We are looking for 6 male roles and 2 female roles. All actors should be able to play early to mid forties. Oscar Madison: A slovenly, recently divorced sportswriter. Felix Ungar: A fastidious, hypochondriac news writer whose marriage is ending. Murray: A fat cop, one of Oscar and Felix's poker buddies. Vinnie: One of the poker buddies. Vinnie is mild-mannered and henpecked, making him an easy target for Speed's verbal barbs. Speed: One of the poker buddies. Gruff and sarcastic, often picking on Vinnie and Murray. Roy: One of the poker buddies. Oscar's accountant. Roy has a dry wit but is less acerbic than Speed. Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon: Oscar and Felix's upstairs neighbors, a pair of British sisters. The former is a divorcée, the latter a widow. Production Schedule: Rehearsals will take place from June through August (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). No rehearsal on August long weekend. The read through will be on Tuesday June 7th. We will try to accomodate summer vacations, but ask that auditioners come prepared to commit to the rehearsal schedule. Move-in and tech week begins September 4th, 2011.
