The Vertigo Theatre - Downtown, at the base of the Calgary Tower, 115 - 9 Avenue SE Calgary, AB The Acting Irish International Theatre Festival is an annual event that has alternated between host cities in Canada and the United States since 1994. The festival celebrates the traditions of the Irish stage as community theatre companies from across North America and Ireland come together to perform Irish and Irish-themed plays -- both comedies and dramas, contemporary as well as classic. We're pleased to announce that we will ...have award winning Canadian Playwright, Sharon Pollock, as well as Calgary Sun Theatre Critic, Louis B. Hobson, as adjudicators for the 2011 Festival in Calgary! Visit the Acting Irish Wikipedia page for information on previous festival dates. The Liffey Players Drama Society is proud to host the 2011 AIITF, only the second time since 1996 that the festival will be held in Calgary. Our showcase performance of Conor McPherson's "The Seafarer" wil be presented the two weeks prior (May 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 14), at the Irish Cultural Society. Please come out to support the local fellows in what is sure to be a smash hit as the opening performance of the festival. Our web-page: www.liffeyplayers.com will be the best source of current information, including festival participants, performance line-up, adjudicators and awards. To find out even more, or to get involved with the festival and see performances from Irish companies from around the world, contact the Liffey at info@liffeyplayerscom, or ask Peter, on the Liffey Facebook page. | |
