| Open auditions for all roles will take place: Thursday November 25th (7:00 to 9:30pm) Saturday November 27th (1:00 to 5:00pm) and Sunday November 28th (1:00 to 5:00pm) Callbacks will be Tuessday November 30th, if necessary at the Morpheus Rehearsal Centre 3512 - 5th Avenue NW (in the Parkdale Community Centre) Audition Requirements: * Please prepare a piece in Gilbert & Sullivan style (i.e.; no belting, pop or rock pieces, please!). The music should display your vocal range and good diction. Do not prepare a piece from The Sorcerer for the audition, although knowledge of the music in advance is definitely an asset. It is also to your advantage to have your music memorized. * A cold read may be requested for named roles * Please bring your resume and headshot to the audition * There will be an accompanist available for the Saturday & Sunday auditions along with a CD/Tape player (Ipod/MP3 connection is not guaranteed). You may also sing a cappella. The script is available for viewing during office hours. Please phone or email to confirm times. An Operetta by Gilbert & Sullivan Alexis and Aline are in love and want everyone in Ploverleigh to feel the joy that they do, and are not above using a little magic to see that it happens. The sorcerer mixes up a love potion which is served at the betrothal party. When the villagers regain consciousness they find that they are indeed, all as in love as Alexis and Aline – but not with whom they expected! As Alexis and Aline try to set right the problems they have caused, they only manage to make matters worse. ROLES We are looking for strong singer/actors for the following roles. Experience with Gilbert & Sullivan is not necessary if you can sing and act the role. Sir Marmaduke Pointdextre: (M - Baritone) An elderly baronet (approx 40-60 yrs old) Alexis: (M - Tenor) his son (early twenties) Lady Sangazure: (F - Mezzo Soprano) a lady of ancient lineage (approx 40-60 yrs old) Aline: (F - Soprano) her daughter (early twenties) Doctor Daly: (M - Baritone) vicar of Ploverleigh (early to mid 30’s) John Wellington Wells: (M - Baritone) of JWWells & Co., Family Sorcerers (flexible, though likely older) Mrs. Partlet: (F - Mezzo Soprano) a pew opener (approx 40-60 yrs old) Constance: (F - Soprano) her daughter (early twenties) Chorus representing the townsfolk of Ploverleigh, so all ages and types are encouraged to try out Production Schedule: Read-through: Sunday December 5th (1:00 to 4:00pm) Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 10:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 PM commencing Tuesday January 4th, 2011. Move-in and tech week begins March 20th, 2011.
