| FIRE EXIT THEATRE announces AUDITIONS for "THIS WAKING MOMENT" by Christopher Greco Directed by Jennifer Shaw Tuesday July 27th @ 7 pm - 9 pm 2-3 minute prepared modern monologue (comedy or drama) Will also do cold read and group work Resume' & head-shot preferred Evening & weekend rehearsals Performance is first week in October at the Engineered Air Theatre - Epcor Centre Non-equity theatre *To book an audition - val@fireexit.ca Dr. Susan Foreman/ Woman One: Susan is in her mid forties and is a professionally successful breast cancer surgeon who chose her career because she was drawn to the challenge of competing in a male dominated vocation. She is an excellent surgeon but has made significant personal “sacrifices” for her career: Susan finds herself the only single, childless, friendless sibling in a family with very high expectations for their daughters. Susan has detached herself from others but finds herself drawn to the strength and courage of her patients. Carolyn/Woman Two: Carolyn is in her early thirties and is a writer and editor. She is successful, independent, intelligent, hard working, fit, and discovers, early in the play, that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Carolyn has experienced many challenges throughout her life, including a mother with bipolar disorder. She discovers (for the first time?) a need for God in her quest to be healed from Cancer and is seeking connection and community. Debbie/Woman Three: Debbie is also in her early thirties, is a former college roommate of Carolyn. She has experienced “many careers, roommates and bridesmaid dresses” and has “no clue where her life is headed.” Throughout her life she has been the “Christian friend” to many, but finds herself questioning her faith when confronted with an unexpected phone call and meeting from her friend Carolyn who needs support throughout her Cancer diagnosis and treatment.
