To save their convent from financial ruin, the Little Sisters of Hoboken have "One Last Hope" to raise the money and properly bury their accidentally poisoned sisters. What will they do? Why throw a fundraiser, of course. From writing greeting cards to producing a variety show, the nuns’ ingenuity shines as they frantically garner the cash. With new songs, new dance numbers and more wacky characters, expect an evening of toe-tapping, mega-musical fun! Audition Requirements 1) A one-minute monologue appropriate for the show 2) For singing roles, a song appropriate for the show, but not from the show; please bring sheet music as an accompanist will be provided 3) Please prepare a joke 4) Come dressed to dance 5) Both male and female actors will be considered for female roles; males wishing to audition specifically for female roles should prepare a song and monologue typically performed by women PLEASE NOTE You must stay after your individual audition slot for a group dance and acting audition (marked "Blocked" below). For example, if you have the 6:30 slot you will also have the 7:34 slot for your dance audition. Members of Equity please note that as FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we do not pay actors under any circumstances. Rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday from 7-10 Sunday from 1-5 Beginning Tues. Feb. 9th, 2010 Roles Available Reverend Mother Mary Regina A model Mother Superior, even if she is overweight. An outrageous, quick-witted soul who knows how to get a laugh. She tries to convince us she's strict. Sister Mary Hubert A kind person, understanding & diplomatic. Supposed to be dignified, but ready to kick up her heels with the slightest bit of encouragement. Sister Robert Anne A tough streetwise nun with a heart of gold. Can hit a baseball "out of the park". Sister Mary Amnesia The picture of innocence. She can't remember her past and so looks at each new day with a childlike joy. Sister Mary Leo A former professional dancer; always eager to display her talent. Young, impressionable, and easily led astray. Additional parts Sister Julia, Child of God (Convent Cook) Sister Mary (Brother) Brendan (Novice) Sister Mary (Brother) Luke (Novice) Sister Mary (Brother) Wilhelm (Convent Nurse) Father (Sister Mary) Virgil (Sr. Leo’s Brother/Sister) Chorus Clergy with the possibility of bit parts throughout the show; singing, dancing, acting required Acting only roles We are seeking approximately 8 – 10 performers that will be the nuns and priests that are serving as ushers and theatre staff throughout the performance run (i.e. ticket takers, follow spot, front of house manager). Performers who have an interest or strength in comedy and improvisation but may not want a singing role are encouraged to audition. There will be a focus on character development and improvisation throughout the rehearsal run for these performers so those interested in developing such skills are encouraged to get involved. These roles will not only be interactive with the audience, but also short bits will be developed for moments throughout the evening. | |
