Set in England during the late Victorian era, the play’s humour derives in part from characters maintaining fictitious identities to escape unwelcome social obligations. It is replete with witty dialogue and satirizes the foibles and hypocrisy of late Victorian society. It has proven to be Wilde’s most enduring play – wittily revolving around the most ingenious case of “manufactured” mistaken identity ever put on stage. Performances are at the Pumphouse Theatre Wednesday to Saturday 7:30pm Saturday & Sunday matinees at 2:00pm Tickets are $14 for Students and Seniors and $17 for Adults.
