The Liffey Players Drama Society will be hosting auditions for their spring production of "The Weir" by Conor McPherson on January 17 & 18 with callbacks on January 19th.

The Weir is a play about storytelling. One evening at the local pub in a small town on the northwest coast of Ireland the locals attempt to impress a newcomer until she turns the tables on them.

Since storytelling is the name of the game auditions will consist of telling a story not presenting a monologue. Do you have a favourite (2-3 minute max) story that can be presented? You can have your script in hand if needed as long as you make the words come alive and build the suspense!

An Irish dialect is not needed at this time.

Audition Requirements:
* Auditions will be done in 10-minute increments by appointment only (please arrive 10 minutes early).
* Please bring a headshot or current picture and resume to your audition.

Rehersals will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons at the Irish Cultural Centre.
Performances will be April 28-30, May 3-6 (Move in April 23).
This play will also be presented at the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival so you must be able to travel to the USA from May 8 to 14.

Casting Information

Jack (Male 50's) - Local town auto mechanic
Brendan (Male 30's) - Owner/bartender of the pub
Jim (Male 40's) - Helps Jack at the garage, an underrated jack of all trades.
Finbar (Male Late 40's) - Local realtor
Valerie (Female Early 40's) - The newcomer. *This role is already cast*

Cast Auditions

Audition Dates will be as follows:
Tuesday, January 17 from 7:00 to 10:00pm and
Wednesday, January 18 from 8:00 to 10:00pm
Callbacks will be Thursday, January 19th

Auditions and rehearsals will take place at the Irish Cultural Society Centre located at 6452 - 35th Ave NW.
